Slack notifications for on-hold workflows are now actionable. When a workflow is paused at an approval job, the Slack notification includes Approve and Cancel buttons, so you can act on it without opening the CircleCI web app. The buttons appear in both project channel notifications and direct messages, and each action asks for confirmation before it runs.
What’s included
- Approve and Cancel buttons on on-hold workflow notifications, in shared channels and DMs
- A confirmation dialog before any action runs
- The same permissions as the CircleCI web app, so you can only approve or cancel workflows you’d be able to act on in the app
- In-Slack feedback: the message updates with the outcome, and you get a message if something goes wrong or you don’t have permission
To use it
- Make sure your organization has the CircleCI Slack app installed (Org Settings → Slack Integration).
- Enable Slack notifications for workflows awaiting approval for your project or DMs.
- Link your Slack identity from User Settings → Notifications. If you haven’t, you’ll be prompted to when you select a button.
